Duolingo ranks & Reward Explained.

This article will guide you with the ranks/league, and how the ranking system works in Duolingo, including the rewards you will obtain.

Duolingo is one of the most popular language-learning platforms that offers courses in over 40 languages. It uses a game-like approach to language learning, with lessons that include translating, interactive exercises, quizzes and stories. You can earn points and unlock new levels as you progress. After you reach level 25 in Duolingo, you can earn up to a maximum of 30000 XP. At the end of the week, the user with the most XP earns the most points and wins the league.

Duolingo Ranking System

Duolingo Leagues are one of its biggest and most popular features. These are a weekly leaderboard containing 30 random users. Every Sunday, a new weekly League begins.

After joining the league, you will be in a group of users with similar skill levels as yours. Independent of the language you are learning, you will compete in the same 10 leagues as everyone else.

Duolingo has 10 different leagues, and the players on the top 3 of the leaderboard gain rewards i.e. virtual currency used as gems. Also, the top players who have maximum XP in their respective league leaderboards are promoted to the upper leagues. The current breakdown is presented below:

Bronze is the starting, and diamond is the highest league/rank in Duolingo. Here, anyone who finishes 24th or lower (24th to 30th) will get a demotion to the previous league.

However, if you finish outside the promotion position and demotion list, you will stay in your current league for another week. Also, players who earn 1st, 2nd or 3rd position will also get lingots.

Diamond League is the most competitive of the ten ranks in Duolingo. You can become eligible for the diamond tournament if you finish in the top 10 of the diamond league within a week. The diamond tournament consists of 15 people– 1-10 advance, 11-15 are relegated to the diamond league.

About Tournament

You will face 3 weekly stages inside the tournament, which are:

  1. Quarterfinals
  2.  Semi-finals
  3. Finals

Every week, the lowest XP users are eliminated and returned to the diamond league, and among the most XP progress, they get promoted to the next step. In the final stage, the Diamond Tournament Champion is crowned and given a new achievement badge.
