Dota 2 Trading: How to Trade Skins and items?

In Dota 2, Players get skins from drops, but if not, they buy them. However, players might feel boring playing with the same old skin for a long time. In such cases, players can exchange their skins with another skin from another player, which is called Trading in Dota 2.

However, every item and skin in Dota 2 is not tradable. There are some requirements that the item and the player account have to meet to do trade in the game.

Requirement for the item to be tradable in Dota 2

(i) Items of some specific type are not tradeable. (Listed as non-tradable in the item description)
(ii) You can’t trade Items unboxed from a Treasure until three months after the treasure gets released.


(iii) After you purchase Dota 2 Item market, you can’t trade or sell again in the market within one week of purchase.
(iv) Account must have a successful purchase older than thirty days but not older than a year.


(v) Account must have had Steam Guard enabled for 15 days.
(vi) If you have had your password reset by Steam Support, you will need to wait another 15 days with Steam Guard enabled before you can trade or list items on the Community Market.


(vii) Adding a new purchase method to an account will trigger a trade and market restriction for 7 days.
(viii) Accounts under trade or VAC bans cannot trade or use the market.

So, if your item and your account meet all of the requirements, be ready you are eligible to trade in Dota 2.

Steps for trading skins and items in Dota 2

(i) Open steam through the client or web.
(ii) Drag mouse over your profile at the top left corner.
(iii) Click on the inventory option there.
(iv) Click on Trade offer and click on the new offer option.
(v) Select the friend you want to trade Dota 2 skins and items.
(vi) Click and drag the items you want to trade from both inventories into the trade boxes.
(vii) Check the box to confirm the trade offer and click on Make Offer.

Then your friend will receive a trade offer notification in his account, and you will need to authenticate the request in your steam mobile guard.

You can also trade Dota 2 items with strangers by setting your steam inventory display status to the public and following the same steps, but when trading with strangers, make sure to use a trusted website and not fall for a scam.
